We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled IT Project Manager to manage and oversee the delivery of critical IT projects in a government environment. In this contractor role, the successful candidate will be responsible for planning, executing, and managing IT projects to ensure they are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with established procedures and standards. The role requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of IT project management methodologies.

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled IT Project Manager to manage and oversee the delivery of critical IT projects in a government environment. In this contractor role, the successful candidate will be responsible for planning, executing, and managing IT projects to ensure they are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with established procedures and standards. The role requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of IT project management methodologies.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience working in a government or highly regulated environment.
- Familiarity with government procurement processes and contract management.
- Knowledge of ITIL, cybersecurity, or relevant industry standards.
- Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., ServiceNow, JIRA, Asana, or similar).
- Project Planning and Execution: Lead the end-to-end project lifecycle, from planning and initiation through to execution and completion. Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
- Stakeholder Management: Work closely with key stakeholders, including internal teams, vendors, and senior management, to ensure project objectives and requirements are clearly defined and met. Provide regular updates on project progress and manage expectations.
- Risk and Issue Management: Proactively identify and address risks and issues that may impact the successful delivery of the project. Develop mitigation strategies and manage risks to ensure projects stay on track.
- Resource Management: Coordinate and manage resources effectively, ensuring that the project team has the necessary skills and capacity to achieve project objectives. Oversee the allocation of tasks and responsibilities.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that IT project deliverables meet defined quality standards, including compliance with Australian Government policies, security protocols, and industry best practices.
- Budget and Financial Management: Oversee the project budget, ensuring that costs are tracked accurately, and that the project is delivered within the allocated budget. Provide financial reporting to stakeholders.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including project plans, risk assessments, progress reports, and post-implementation reviews. Ensure that all project-related documentation is stored and accessible as per government guidelines.
- Vendor and Contract Management: Manage relationships with external vendors and contractors, ensuring that services and deliverables meet the agreed-upon terms, timelines, and quality standards. Assist with the negotiation and management of contracts.
- Project Closure and Review: Oversee the successful closure of the project, ensuring all deliverables are completed and accepted by stakeholders. Lead post-project reviews to assess performance and identify lessons learned for continuous improvement.
