Overview:
Our large government client is seeking an experienced Solution Architect (NV1) based in Canberra ACT. The Solution Architect will conduct software integration engineering activities that include holding meaningful discussions with a range of experts and stakeholders made available to them, to review and synthesise disparate and at times opposing technical views before making evidence based recommendations.
You will be expected to have knowledge and experience in the required technical domains - to the extent that you have successfully delivered outcomes to a high degree of technical complexity, either directly or with some support from additional technical experts under their management and supervision.
Key deliverables:
Location of work: Canberra, ACT
Length of contract: 1 May 2024 – 30 June 2025 extension options available upon business funds availability (2x12 mths). Consideration will be given to Contractors working remote from Canberra, however, it is expected attendance in Canberra is at least once a month for at least three business days.
Security Requirements: Due to the nature of this role, you must be an Australian citizen and hold current NV1 or higher security clearance.

You will be expected to have knowledge and experience in the required technical domains - to the extent that you have successfully delivered outcomes to a high degree of technical complexity, either directly or with some support from additional technical experts under their management and supervision.
Key deliverables:
- Plan and manage the delivery of project technical tasks and outcomes with the Project Manager and Design PMO,
- Assure fitness of purpose and safety of product line outputs,
- Design and document the Conformance Test process including the identification, development and employment of conformance tools and environments,
- Assist the Tech Lead to develop architecture and model,
- Define technical tasks for technology investigations as part of ongoing Standard development and maintenance, including the evaluation of Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) and Modified/ Military off the Shelf (MOTS) design alternatives,
- Develop and maintain the High Level Design (HLD), Detailed Design (DD), and Interface Control Definition (ICD) documentation including Security requirements,
- Coordination across the team of technical experts and constituent products to realise strategic objectives for platform integration and materiel Standardisation,
- Oversee engineering process/ conduct within the product line, in accordance with the Design Program engineering policies,
- Represent Department Design to industry and international stakeholders under the Framework and provide technical support and advice to the Subject Matter Experts,
- Advise Design PMO on future technical development pathways to realise strategic intent,
- Exercise design authority where assigned (directly or indirectly),
- Conduct technical review and approval of engineering designs, documentation, investigation and trial reports as directed by the Tech Lead,
- Identify and manage product or project risk, escalating to Design PMO on potential to impact Design business outcomes,
- Work closely with Design Engineering Manager to support the broader Design engineering processes,
- Engage with external engineering and technical stakeholders to understand technology solutions and frame strategic direction and outcomes.
