Solution Architect – Professional Services
About the role
Our client is seeking a Solution Architect to join Professional Services team within their organisation. Each customer implementation has a Solution Architect as part of the project team. As a member of this team, the Solution Architect is responsible for the integrity of the architecture, functional solution design, and technical development and is ultimately responsible for the delivery of high-quality solutions to our customers.
The Solution Architect is also responsible for mentoring consultants in coming up-to-speed on the suite of products and the implementation process.
As a member of the Solution Architecture group, the Solution Architect needs to be able to notice trends across customer implementations to then help improve the implementation process by creating re-usable assets and refining the implementation processes.

Key responsibilities will include:
Solution Delivery
- Responsible for the integrity of the solution design and development of assigned projects. Deliverables must meet the business needs of the client and meet implementations standards.
- Own resolution of technical and product issues on assigned projects from initial point of engagement through go-live of the solution.
- Ensure best practices and consistent delivery approach are utilized on assigned projects.
- Drive to structure work and produce deliverables that align with the scope and budget of projects.
- Hold design reviews for assigned projects. Responsible for determining the appropriate participants and effectively structuring and driving design reviews.
- Ensure all projects utilize development standards
- Participate in the development of solutions conceived, driven and owned by Professional Services.
- Create high quality solution design and design documentation. Able to effectively present, articulate and defend the design orally, visually and in writing to clients.
- Able to effectively translate client requirements (sometimes creatively) into the current available product and determine where gaps may exist.
- Able to communicate and manage client expectations related to the design to reach successful client sign-off.
- Conduct code reviews where appropriate.
- Review Product Requirements Document (PRD) and Product Architecture Document (PAD) to ensure that design and feature set of core products meet customer expectations and needs.
- The technical design of the customer specific solutions and ensuring that specifications are completed (in coordination with the project manager)
- Oversee (worldwide) installations and provide assistance to the regional team.
- Giving final OK on all project related software designs.
- Provide oversight to consultants to ensure all project work is consistent with the solution design and implementation standards.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to all levels of consultants in technical and product knowledge.
- Ability to effectively manage time across multiple concurrent projects.
- Participate in identifying and creating re-usable assets to improve efficiency and consistency of delivery across projects.
- Provide input to Project Managers for project planning and estimating efforts on project based on varying project resource skills.
- Communicate the risks and benefits of design/architectural options to an audience with diverse technical backgrounds.
- Assist in business development efforts in terms of solution definition scope and estimation efforts, where appropriate.
The successful candidate:
- Minimum 5 to 8 years consulting experience.
- 3-5 years of implementation experience.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively influence and align client thinking and agenda.
- Strong written communication, verbal communication and presentation skills
- Ability to effectively able to navigate client's organisation to facilitate the completion of project deliverables.
- Understanding and application of basic project management concepts, i.e. scope management, issue management, schedule management and client management.
- Ability to understand the functional design and technical project requirements
- Oracle based skills in areas such as Oracle RDBMS architecture, design, and tuning; SQL, PL/SQL, and JAVA programming languages; software development, architecture, and customization
- Working knowledge of one of the following enterprise applications: Oracle E-Business Suite (AP, AR, Payroll, HR, etc.) and SAP
