Storage Engineer – BLOB Storage

About the role:
As a Storage Engineer, you will provide operational support for Azure-native storage services, including Blob Storage, File Shares, Disks, and Tables. Your role involves monitoring storage performance, supporting incident resolution, and validating backup jobs. You will apply access control, encryption settings, and retention policies, collaborating with various teams to troubleshoot storage-related issues. Maintaining documentation and operational procedures is also essential.
Key responsibilities will include:
• Monitor storage performance and usage to ensure optimal availability and compliance with the Client’s governance and tagging policies.
• Support storage-related incident resolution, problem analysis, and change management processes in coordination with other support teams.
• Validate backup jobs associated with storage resources and proactively report anomalies; assist in restoring data when required.
• Apply and maintain access control, encryption settings, and retention policies in line with Microsoft recommendations and organizational standards.
• Collaborate with platform, application, and infrastructure teams to troubleshoot and resolve storage-related issues efficiently.
• Maintain storage documentation, operational procedures, and runbooks to support continuity and compliance.
• Provide operational support for Azure-native storage services, including Blob Storage, File Shares, Disks, and Tables.
The successful candidate:
• Must have an active AGSVA Baseline Clearance, preferred to have AGSVA NV1 Clearance or be eligible to obtain one.
• Must be an Australian Citizen
• Mandatory to be on site 5days a week.
What's on offer?
This contract is available for an initial 6 – 12 month term with likely extensions. There is also potentially a pathway to permanency with the client for this opportunity.
Location preference is Ballarat in Victoria but candidates are also able to work on end client sites in all capital cities. This role requires 5 days on site and no remote working due to security reasons.

The successful candidate:
- 2+ years of experience managing cloud storage infrastructure, preferably in Microsoft Azure environments.
- Strong understanding of Azure storage services and their operational characteristics (Blob, Files, Disks, Tables).
- Familiarity with Azure Backup, storage access controls, RBAC, and data lifecycle management.
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, or equivalent for tracking storage health and performance.
- Knowledge of networking principles as they relate to storage (e.g., Private Endpoints, NSGs, service endpoints).
