About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Cyber Security Technical Writer to join a Canberra-based team on an initial 8-month contract, with the possibility of a 12-month extension. This role involves researching, developing, reviewing, and publishing cyber security guidance and technical advice tailored to a range of audiences. You’ll work closely with internal and external stakeholders to produce high-quality publications and contribute to strategic deliverables.
Key responsibilities include:
To be considered, you must be an Australian citizen with a current Baseline security clearance. Candidates with a Defence Intelligence Agency-recognised Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) are highly preferred. You must also be willing to undergo the agency’s OSA process prior to engagement.

- Producing actionable cyber security guidance and mitigation strategies.
- Conducting research on emerging technologies and cyber threats.
- Supporting technical publications through all development phases.
- Collaborating within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Assisting with governance, briefings, document reviews, and reporting.

- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field (e.g., cyber security, IT, cloud computing).
Desirable attributes:
- Experience managing projects.
- Familiarity with governance, risk, and compliance practices.
- Knowledge of ASD’s Essential Eight maturity model and Information Security Manual.
