Our private sector client is currently seeking a Data Engineer for a 12-month fixed term contract, based in Perth. This position involves analysing IT requirements for their customer’s projects and designing of appropriate ETL models so that the solutions are implemented in accordance with the client’s requirements and standards. Whilst the position requires primarily modelling skills using PowerCenter designer along with ETL-Informatica, PL/SQL Skills, advance SQL and Unix, the successful candidate will be required to work with other technology architects, IT specialists, application developers and operations staff to ensure an appropriate solution is designed and implemented.

As a Data Engineer - ETL your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Working with business sponsors to understand business strategies and objectives for building all models in network Risk application.
- Develop technical objectives and requirements to achieve business goals.
- Develop high-level and detailed-level technical architecture solutions, leveraging leading frameworks, approaches, and languages.
- Develop high-level and detailed-level integration patterns.
- Assists in the process of maintaining all the relevant sources of data and ensuring that it is being designed properly using Power designer.
- Involved in developing the ETL processes and is involved in designing and preparing the codes that meet the program specifications as well as the client requirements.
- Involved in the effective implementation of these informatica programs, tests them, evaluates the requirements, addresses, and resolves the issues associated with it, etc.
- Writing shell scripts blocks for streamlining/automating processes, data loading, validation, reconciliation.
- Assist peer developers with writing optimal SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, views, triggers, constraints, ETL scripts.
To ensure success in the role you will possess the following skills:
- At least 6 years’ experience in ETL technology (informatica tool).
- At least 5 years’ experience in delivering Complex Integration architecture models.
- At least 3 years’ experience in applied knowledge of PL/SQL, UNIX.
- At least 3 years in Data modelling using power designer.
- At least 3 years’ experience in Agile methodology managing multi-vendor and complex systems integration projects, working in a distributed team environment, managing offshore teams with demonstrable outcome.
- At least 3 years’ experience working in System Integrations and legacy systems using Web Services or file-based message exchange.
- At least 2 years’ experience in Distribution and Transmission Assets, asset hierarchy, lifecycle management, concept of asset management and equipment registers.
- Professional knowledge related to Energy and Utilities Industry function/business unit and its processes is highly advantageous.
