Our Federal Government Client is seeking an adviser to join their ICT Contracts and Procurement team, with a focus on software licensing procurement and management. Motivated candidates with a strong response to the mandatory requirements who are seeking to expand their experience to include in depth software management are encouraged to apply.
As a key member of the team, the successful candidate will have primary carriage of software related procurements and contract management, including:

Location and Contract Term: Canberra ACT - 12 month contract plus possibility of 6 month extension.
Security Requirements: Candidates must have full working rights for Australia and be willing to undergo a Police Check.

Our Federal Government Client is seeking an adviser to join their ICT Contracts and Procurement team, with a focus on software licensing procurement and management. Motivated candidates with a strong response to the mandatory requirements who are seeking to expand their experience to include in depth software management are encouraged to apply.
As a key member of the team, the successful candidate will have primary carriage of software related procurements and contract management, including:
- Establishing and maintaining Effective Licencing Positions (ELPs), that reconcile licence entitlements against licence consumption across the organisations software portfolio.
- Leading and conducting software audits, including licence true-ups for major software suppliers such as Microsoft and Adobe.
- Ensuring the Department remains compliant with its licencing obligations while minimising unnecessary licence costs.
- Managing software related contracts, leading new software procurements and negotiating software renewals (including SaaS and other Cloud technologies).
- Coordinating licence re-harvesting exercises, highlighting and recording any savings
- Assisting in managing the Departments software budget, highlighting and avoiding unnecessary spending.
- Keeping up to date with new software products and amendments to licence terms and conditions.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Sound knowledge of the Australian Government Financial Framework, including the Commonwealth Procurement Rules and their application.
- Experience managing complex procurements in a government setting, including approvals, requirements gathering, evaluation, negotiations and contract closure.
- Experience providing specialist procurement and contract management advice.
- Ability to manage complex relationships, and to drive performance of 3rd party suppliers.
- Well-developed written and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate broadly across their business and IT areas to achieve satisfactory procurement and contract outcomes.
- Previous experience with government buying processes.
- Experience managing licensing for key strategic vendors such as Microsoft (including enterprise and volume licencing) and Adobe.
- Experience in managing and supporting internal and external audits, including providing ELPs, true-ups and other general data analysis.
- Experience managing Cloud licencing, technologies and services.
- Experience working with budgets, specifically around licence forecasting and ongoing spend reporting.
- Experience in optimisation for software licences, minimising associated spending whilst remaining compliant.
- Experience managing and maintaining a Software Portfolio, including allowed and denied applications.
- ITIL Foundation v3 / v4.
- Certified Software Asset Management Certificate.
- An understanding of Project Management methodology (e.g. Prince2 and APM) and delivery methods (e.g. Agile and Waterfall).
- Experience in IT Management, business administration, contract/ commercial law or another related discipline.
