Whizdom are assisting one of our valued clients to fill a backfill position for an ICT Security Engineer in Canberra, ACT. The ICT Security Engineer is responsible for the analysis and development of the integration, testing, operations, and maintenance of systems security.

Location: This role is required to be performed in Canberra, ACT.
Contract Terms: 12 months initial contract, with 2x 12 month extension options (at the client's digression)
Security Requirements: Current NV1 clearance Candidates will need to be willing to undergo pre-employment checks which may include, ID and work rights, security clearance verification and any other client requested checks.

Main Responsibilities:
- Analysing and reporting on system security posture
- Validating of security controls
- Performing security assessments, identifying gaps in security architecture
- Planning and recommending modifications or adjustments based on assessment results
- Assessing access controls based on principles of least privilege
Skills and Knowledge:
- Security system design tools, methods and techniques
- Installation, integration and optimisation of system components
- Cyber security and privacy principles and organisational requirements (relevant to confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, non-repudiation).
- Countermeasure design for identified security risks.
- Cyber threats and vulnerabilities.
- Assessing security controls based on cyber security principles and tenets (e.g. ISM, CIS CSC, NIST SP 800-53, NIST Cyber Security Framework)
- Determining how a security system should work (including its resilience and dependability capabilities) and how changes in conditions, operations or the environment will effect these outcomes.
- Recognising and prioritising vulnerabilities in ICT systems (e.g. vulnerability and compliance scanning)
