Our Large Federal Government client is seeking a Network Engineer who will assist in the development, delivery, sustainment and remediation of Enterprise Cross Domain and Network Firewall capabilities. The candidate must be an organised and outcomes orientated individual with good communication skills, confident in prosecuting a number of technical undertakings and work packages from concept to delivery.
The candidate will undertake planning and implementation of capability through functions including; high and detailed design, implementation, testing, trouble shooting, evaluation & remediation, and transition to operations.

Location: Canberra, ACT
Contract terms: 12 and 24 months will be considered
SFIA security level required: The Specified Person will be expected to demonstrate attributes of SFIA Level of Responsibility 4.
Security Requirements: Current Top-Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) security clearance is strongly preferred, however candidates who have held a TSPV in the previous 12-month period (which has since been downgraded) may be considered.

Skills and Knowledge:
- Experience implementing and maintain security policies for Cisco and/or Juniper firewall devices.
- Cisco and/or Juniper Certifications.
- Exposure to and understanding of OSPF and BGP routing as well as MPLS technologies.
- Proven experience in Unix/Linux systems administration.
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of ITIL processes and procedures.
Major Responsibilities:
- Provide first and second-level operational support across the firewall infrastructure in line with ITIL processes, including:
- The management of firewall policies and configuration to support permitted network traffic through firewall devices.
- Troubleshooting network connectivity issues.
- Perform firewall remediation activities including:
- Developing design and architecture proposals.
- Reviewing and refining security policies.
- Configuring new devices, and leading change activities.
