The Role:
The Department requires Business Analysts to support the ICT Business, Strategy & Governance Section and broadly the ICT Division.

Location and Contract Term: This role is based in ACT. Approx start date of 1 July 2025 with contract till 30 June 2026. 1 x 12 month contract extension options pending budget and delegate approval
Security Requirements: Applicants must be Australian Citizens. A Baseline security clearance is required.

Key duties and responsibilities
- Work independently or collaboratively as required to design technical solutions that optimise system performance, data integrity, and integration capabilities.
- Planning modelling activities for change programmes and across multiple business functions, selecting appropriate techniques and the correct level of detail for meeting assigned objectives.
- Analysing and designing business processes to identify alternative solutions to improve efficiency, effectiveness and exploit new technologies and automation.
- Managing the execution of business process improvements.
- Assessing the feasibility of business process changes and recommends alternative approaches.
- Contributing to the definition of organisational policies, standards, and guidelines for business process improvement.
- Advising on the approach and techniques to be used for business situation analysis.
- Collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders, including those at the management level.
- Contributes to definition of organisational standards and guidelines for business situation analysis.
- Taking responsibility for understanding client requirements, collecting data, delivering analysis and problem resolution.
- Enhancing the capabilities and effectiveness of stakeholders, by ensuring that proposed solutions are fully understood and appropriately exploited.
- Planning, driving, and scoping requirements definition and prioritisation activities for large, complex initiatives.
- Negotiating with stakeholders to manage competing priorities and conflicts.
- Ensuring changes to requirements are investigated and managed.
- Identifying the communications and relationship needs of stakeholder groups.
- Translating communications/stakeholder engagement strategies into specific activities and deliverables.
- Capturing and disseminating technical and business information.
- Contributing to drafting business cases, system roadmaps and system strategy documents.
- Contribute to the review and creation of service designs.
- Contributing to systems analysis activities.
Skills and Experience Required:
- have a minimum of 5-years’ experience as a Business Analyst within Federal Government or similarly-sized large organisations
- have extensive experience leading the technical analysis process from design to implementation including:
- Translating business requirements into technical specifications and system requirements;
- Collaborating with technical teams to design and validate system architecture and integration approaches;
- Defining technical constraints, dependencies, and acceptance criteria; and
- Developing detailed data migration strategies and technical implementation roadmaps.
- Have previous experience in leading the technical delivery aspects of ERP implementations, including system configuration, integration, and data migration will be highly regarded.
- Demonstrated experience in designing system integrations, APIs, and data exchange mechanisms between enterprise systems.
- Strong ability to create high quality technical documentation including system architecture diagrams, interface specifications, data models, and technical test cases.
- Advanced technical knowledge to evaluate technology options, identify potential technical risks, and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Have extensive experience with:
- Systems Analysis
- Service design
- Data Processing
- Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
- Human Resources (HR)
- Experience in the following will be highly regarded:
- Business Architecture
- Roadmap development
