About the Role As a Workplace Relations Consultant, you will:
- Provide first point of contact advice on the interpretation of awards and legislation and the application of industrial instruments.
- Ensure compliance with labour laws and regulations.
- Develop enterprise agreements or collective contracts, workplace relations policies, and programs.
- Undertake research on current industrial issues to provide informed advice.
- Facilitate negotiations between employers and labour unions, preventing and resolving disputes.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with employers, employees, and labour unions.
- Provide advice on terms and conditions of employment contracts.
- Offer proactive advice to mitigate the risk of industrial disputes.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures related to workplace and industrial relations.
- Oversee performance management processes and conduct investigations into employee misconduct.
- Support the development of dispute resolution strategies and oversee workplace consultative committees.
- Prepare and present reports and recommendations to business managers.
- Assist senior management in advocacy and negotiations with unions and other external bodies.
- Support senior staff in providing Workplace Relations training for business owners, managers, and employers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge in personnel and human resources, as well as government industrial regulations.
- Experience in interpreting and working with Enterprise Agreements and Modern Awards.
- A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, law, or a related field.
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in industrial relations or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in preparing employer responses to Unfair Dismissal and other Fair Work Commission applications.
- Strong knowledge of labour laws and regulations.
- Effective negotiation skills to find common ground between management and labour unions.
- Excellent communication skills to convey complex information to different stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills to develop strategies and solutions for labour relations.
- Problem-solving skills to navigate complex labour relations issues.
- Conflict resolution skills to mediate and resolve conflicts.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Attention to detail to ensure compliance with labour laws and regulations.
- Relationship-building skills to maintain positive relationships with stakeholders.
- Empathy and emotional intelligence to foster a positive work environment.
