About the role:
We are seeking a Tech Lead – SAS to oversee the technical aspects of Credit Risk projects, working closely with business stakeholders, solution engineers, and Agile teams to prioritize, design, and implement solutions. This role involves translating business requirements into technical solutions, providing oversight of solution architectures, managing production incidents, and offering third-line support. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of experience as a SAS Tech Lead, 5+ years in complex data process engineering, and proficiency in SAS, SQL, Big Data technologies, and cloud platforms like Azure. Strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills are essential, with a background in banking or Credit Risk preferred.

Located in Sydney, this role offers a hybrid working arrangement.

Key responsibilities will include:
- Collaborate with Credit Risk stakeholders, service owners, and business leads to prioritize and assess requirements and backlogs.
- Analyze Credit Risk-related data elements, including reference data, metadata, and lineage.
- Lead Agile teams in designing, developing, testing, and deploying full-stack technical solutions using modern tools and DevOps practices.
- Translate business requirements into IT solution concepts and designs.
- Develop solution architectures that align with design principles and ensure successful implementation.
- Lead root cause analysis of production incidents, identifying design or requirements gaps and implementing solutions.
- Provide third-line support and input to high-level IT & business solution design documents.
- Offer technology application guidance and end-to-end implementation planning support.
- Validate and oversee complex changes to ensure stability and sustainability.
- Deliver accurate cost estimates for design and development phases in collaboration with architects and project teams.
- Support Solution Engineers and Data Engineers in design and development efforts.
- Contribute to the strategic design, development, and deployment of key projects.
- 3+ years of experience as a SAS Tech Lead.
- 5+ years delivering complex business and technology solutions, including data process engineering.
- 5+ years of advanced experience in SQL, SAS, and data manipulation/cleansing with SAS tools.
- 3+ years of Big Data (Hadoop, Spark, Hive), API development (Java Spring, MVC), and Azure Cloud experience.
- Expertise in warehousing, integration tools (Informatica, Sterling), and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau).
- Hands-on experience designing solutions with SAS 9.4/Viya and working in Azure cloud environments.
- Strong understanding of Data Mesh Architecture and Domain Data Products.
- Proven ability to lead enterprise-sized projects, integrate systems, and navigate Banking/Credit Risk domains.
- Solid experience across multiple platforms, development methodologies, and data integration solutions.
- Advanced troubleshooting, problem-solving, and consultative skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Knowledge of financial services operations and core applications.
- Familiarity with DevOps/DevSecOps practices is a plus.
