About the Role
As a Senior Business Analyst (EL1 level), you will be responsible for leading requirements gathering, analysis, and traceability across complex ICT initiatives. You’ll work closely with stakeholders to understand business needs, identify opportunities, and deliver strategic outcomes aligned with the agency’s objectives.

Location: The role is based in Canberra ACT.
Contract terms: 12 months from commencement date, plus potential extensions
SFIA level required: The Specified Person will be expected to demonstrate attributes of SFIA Level of Responsibility 5.
Security Requirements: Current Top-Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) security clearance is strongly preferred, however candidates who have held a TSPV in the previous 12-month period (which has since been downgraded) may be considered. An OSA (Organisational Suitability Assessment) will be required for this position.

About the Role
As a Senior Business Analyst (EL1 level), you will be responsible for leading requirements gathering, analysis, and traceability across complex ICT initiatives. You’ll work closely with stakeholders to understand business needs, identify opportunities, and deliver strategic outcomes aligned with the agency’s objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Investigate business needs and document findings and recommendations.
- Contribute to business cases and define benefits of new or improved processes.
- Apply business analysis techniques to articulate processes and outcomes.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define objectives and drive results.
- Evaluate artefacts including requirements, architecture roadmaps, and feasibility studies.
- Analyse and decompose complex ICT problems into actionable components.
- Mentor junior staff and ensure timely, high-quality deliverables.
Technical Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in business, analytics, or IT.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
To be considered, you must:
- Be an Australian citizen with an active or reactivatable TSPV security clearance.
- Be willing to undergo the agency’s Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA), which includes a psychological evaluation.
- Demonstrate experience in:
- Defining and prioritising requirements for large-scale initiatives.
- Creating documentation and visual representations of complex processes.
- Applying IT development principles.
- Solving problems with critical thinking.
- BABOK certification.
- Understanding of cloud computing environments.
- Initial 12-month contract with 2 x 12-month extension options.
- Canberra-based role with flexible working arrangements negotiable.
- Work in a secure, high-impact environment with minimal travel.
