The Role:
As an DevOps (DevSecOps) Engineer, you will support the maintenance and will work closely with the development team to provide (and support) the environment needed to deliver the organisation’s services quickly and efficiently, seeking opportunity for use of automation and self-service.
Key duties and responsibilities
Skills and Experience Required:
1. • Analyses service and component availability, reliability, maintainability and serviceability. Contributes to the availability management process and its operation. Performs defined availability management tasks. Ensures that services and components meet and continue to meet all of their agreed performance targets and service levels. Implements arrangements for disaster recovery and documents recovery procedures. Conducts testing of recovery procedures.
2. • Provides advice, guidance and expertise to promote adoption of methods and tools and adherence to policies and standards. Evaluates and selects appropriate methods and tools in line with agreed policies and standards. Contributes to organisational policies, standards, and guidelines for methods and tools. Implements methods and tools at programme, project and team levels including selection and tailoring in line with agreed standards. Manages reviews of the benefits and value of methods and tools. Identifies and recommends improvements.
3. • Designs, codes, verifies, tests, documents, amends and refactors complex programs/scripts and integration software services. Contributes to the selection of the software development methods, tools and techniques. Applies agreed standards and tools to achieve well-engineered outcomes. Participates in reviews of own work and leads reviews of colleagues' work.
4. • Designs large or complex systems and undertakes impact analysis on major design options and trade-offs. Ensures that the system design balances functional and non-functional requirements. Reviews systems designs and ensures that appropriate methods, tools and techniques are applied effectively. Makes recommendations and assesses and manages associated risks. Adopts and adapts system design methods, tools and techniques. Contributes to development of system design policies, standards and selection of architecture components.
5. • Plans and drives systems development projects which support the organisation's objectives and plans. Selects, adopts and adapts appropriate systems development methods, tools and techniques. Ensures that stakeholders are aware of required resources and that they are made available. Facilitates availability and optimum utilisation of resources. Monitors and reports on the progress of development projects. Ensures projects are carried out in accordance with agreed architectures, standards, methods and tools and addresses security and privacy requirements. Develops road maps to communicate future development activity.
6. • Plans and drives activities to develop organisational systems integration and build capabilities including automation and continuous integration. Identifies, evaluates and manages the adoption of tools, techniques and processes to create a robust integration framework. Provides authoritative advice and guidance on any aspect of systems integration. Leads integration work in line with the agreed system and service design. Assesses risks and takes preventative action. Measures and monitors applications of standards. Contributes to the development of organisational policies, standards, and guidelines for systems integration.
Location and Contract Term: This role is based in ACT. 12 month contract with 2 x 12-month extension options pending budget and delegate approval. Hybrid working arrangements will be considered
Security Requirements: Applicants must be Australian Citizens. A NV2 security clearance is preferred or the ability to obtain and maintain.

Key duties and responsibilities
- Implement, maintain and improve automated testing and deployment pipelines on AWS for various platforms. This includes CD pipelines for applications enabling users to geospatially search, query and download data, and applications monitoring and reporting on the performance of services offered through the Digital Earth.
- Ensure that services and components are available and high performing.
- Contribute and drive a strong culture with a focus on collaboration
- Security monitoring, threat, and incident detection.
- Support, monitor,continually develop and improve tools, software and services that comprise Digital Earth environments to simplify and enhance data management, provision of data services, and operations within AWS.
- Embed security tools and practices into systems and CI/CD pipelines.
- Implement disaster recovery procedures, if needed.
- Facilitate the adoption of new software tools and procedures, in line with industry best practices.
- Code scripts independently. You will design, test, and document this code.
- Design systems that meet both functional and non-functional requirements. Conduct analysis of impacts and trade-offs of different design options.
- Work on systems development projects.
- Work on systems integration projects involving automation, CI/CD, and API integrations.
