About the role:
The Senior Project Officer is involved with the delivery of detailed traffic and transport impact assessments of major infrastructure projects and assisting in the development of measures to ensure optimum traffic flow, road safety performance and network integration during construction and operation that both complement the Greater Sydney transport management strategies and also enable the delivery of major project objectives.
The Successful Candidate
This contract is available for an initial 6-month term with likely extensions.
Located in Parramatta, this role offers a hybrid working arrangement

Primary purpose of the role
The Senior Project Officer is involved with the delivery of detailed traffic and transport impact assessments
of major infrastructure projects and assisting in the development of measures to ensure optimum traffic
flow, road safety performance and network integration during construction and operation that both
complement the Greater Sydney transport management strategies and also enable the delivery of major
project objectives.
Key accountabilities
Assist the assessment of the road network integration strategies & objectives of each Major Project,
examine and assess traffic management plans and supporting demand and operational modelling
for construction works and end-state scope. Contribute expert advice on the major road and road
related aspects of the project to TfNSW staff and other private and public bodies that will ensure
optimum safety and efficiency during construction and operation.
Ratify that proposed traffic volumes, models and conditions outlined in planning documents for major infrastructure projects are valid and applicable for the proposed works by ensuring that appropriate assessment occurs.
Promote current TfNSW network strategies and plans; represent TfNSW at major planning and project meetings by ensuring appropriate attendance in major project planning groups and inclusion of traffic and transport issues in stakeholder and community representative meetings.

Promote best practice construction strategies that deliver minimal impact and disruptions to the network by ensuring that comprehensive reviews of proposed construction methods and phasing of
projects occur.
Liaise and collaborate with other units and teams at Transport in terms of environmental, traffic
modelling and heritage impacts to ensure issues are appropriately captured in plans and strategies.
Interface with the proponents of major infrastructure projects to manage construction and
operational matters.
Liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders for the project to ensure all stakeholders
are effectively engaged and informed and identify and manage stakeholder engagement issues
proactively.
Work collaboratively with other TfNSW branches to build a consistent approach to network
development and to ensure effective integration of the existing transport network.

Essential requirements
Tertiary qualifications in traffic engineering, transport planning or a related discipline and/or
extensive relevant experience.
Demonstrated understanding and experience in traffic modelling, including the inputs, process and
programs used to deliver modelling outcomes.
Proven experience in assessing major road and road related projects in their development or
construction including the ability to engage motivate and supervise the work of specialist staff and
consultants.
Demonstrated high level expertise in transport systems management and traffic engineering
practice to improve traffic flow.
